Time moves ceaselessly accompanied by change
In our lives, surroundings, in our hearts
Be it joyful events or painful happenings
Warming our souls or tearing us apart
Mighty fires burn with vengeance
Before surrendering to smoldering cinders
Loved ones make their final journey
Unaware of the immense void that lingers
Golden leaves flirt under the autumn sun
Delighting all before their ultimate fall
Summer makes way for seasons anew
As autumn so eagerly answers it’s call
All around and within evidence of change
Embosom us with the blanket of time
Relentlessly she bans her way forth
Oblivious to your cries or to mine
nice lines
ReplyDeleteThank you Onkar.
DeleteHave been hoping for something new from you, Margaret. The wait was worth it. Lovely evoking of the bittersweet feeling that the autumn of our lives brings with it. Beautiful photo as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bruce. Glad you like both the poem and the photo. Sorry for the long wait!
DeleteDear Margaret,
ReplyDeleteSo happy to read a poem from you, please come back to regular blogging, we miss you here.
A very philosophical poem, beautifully written - lots of meaning hidden in every line, the poem as a whole is thought provoking! Enjoyed reading it!! :)
Take care,
Charan :)
Hi Charan, thanks for reading and commenting.
DeleteI was inspired to write this poem because of a mutual friend's loss of a person very close to him. Life is full of changes that we have to accept. I think nature gives us a good example of how changes continually take place - and in the end always manages to balance itself out.
Dear Margaret

ReplyDeleteTime has this fabulous consistency, this pace... it passes, and yet at times it seems stand still. This poem is aptly beautiful and triggering all emotions at once! Of joys and of the losses, of delight and of despair. I have been touched and I realize that I was born in autumn!! :)
