Recurrence

Tender and delicate,
small but perfect,
you make your appearance
on this warm spring day.

Boldly you unravel your petals,
one by one;
basking in the warmth of the sun,
as you expose your full beauty--
to hungry eyes.

Soft, untouched,
too fragile for fingers,
but dominant enough
to take one’s breath away.

Putting an end to months
of bleakness,
you stretch out your fist,
adorning bare arms,
as your fingers unwind.

  1. Dear Margaret,

This is a nice spring poem, very well written :)

Usage of words like 'unravel', 'basking', 'hungry eyes', 'bleakness' made the poem wonderful!! :)

2nd Stanza is my favourite in the poem, glad to be reading a poem from you after a while.

Please keep writing more such marvels, looking forward to check another poem from you soon...

    Take care, Cheers, Sai :)

  2. I knew it was only a matter of time before spring "got" you. :)

Here's to the many photo-walks that are to follow! Happy Spring! (We're burning in hell here)

  4. Dear friends,
sorry sorry sorry for not acknowledging your wonderful comments on this post! Believe me, I did read them when you posted but never got round to replying - and we all know how the days turn to weeks, then before we know it another month has passed us by!!

Sai - Thank you for this lovely comment. I'm glad to know your favourite stanza. As you can see I haven't written another poem since but hopefully soon.... :)

Nishant - This certainly can be our 2nd poem. Your haiku beautifully expresses the joy of spring in just a few words and goes wonderfully with my photo. There's nothing I'd change about it. :)

Onkar - Thank you for always coming back to read and appreciate my poems. Hope you and your family are all keeping good.

Aniket - Well, spring got me long before this and still has me in it's lovely clutches - done plenty of photo-walks so far and hope to do many more.

Margie - Thanks for popping over even while you're busy. You must be enjoying every minute with your lovely Rose.
Yes, all is well on my side - hope the same with you. Take care.
